Increasing Rate of Thefts and Defamations of the Churches in North Rhine-Westphalia
NRW Interior Minister Ralf Jäger (SPD) answered to an inquiry of the CDU's parliamentary opposition, that the total damage that churches suffered since the year 2010 amounted to 2.5 million euros for thefts and the value of the stolen goods amounted to an additional 1.4 million euros. Only 14.8 percent of burglaries in churches and chapels were solved.
The CDU opposition expressed strong dismay about the fact that the objectives of burglars increasingly included to such an extent churches.
