Pressures on Christian Refugees Continue in Sweden

Country: Sweden

Date of incident: September 1, 2016

Refugees who have converted from Islam to Christianity report beatings, threats, bullying, and social exclusion in refugee accommodations.

As reported in SVT, refugees Ali and Rami reported abuse as a result of conversion to Christianity by Islamist refugees in the accommodations. Both said they were afraid and wished to remain anonymous because it was insinuated that those who leave Islam would be killed. Ingvar Briland, a priest in the parish of Jönköping confirmed that Christian refugees are at risk and that the Swedish Church is discussing this problem in several parts of the country.  Source and link to video interview with Ingvar Briland: SVT
