The pro-ISIS Wafa Media Foundation released a propaganda poster with an image depicting a jihadist standing over the torso of a prisoner in an orange jumpsuit while holding the head of the Pope. Written next to the Pope's head is "Jorge Mario Bergoglio."

These posters were circulated on the anonymous messaging app Telegram days after the same group released posters depicting a jihadist driving a car towards St. Peter's Basilica.
The photo caption reads: “I swear to avenge every single drop of blood that you spilled and every house that you have destroyed. I swear that you will taste the bitterness of the cups of death and make your feasts massacres. You will not even enjoy living in your homes, Allah Willing.” Some media analysts have noted that the use of the Pope's given name may have been to belittle the importance of his position as the head of the Catholic Church.
