Travelodge Removes Bibles from Hotel Rooms in Britain
One of biggest hotel chains in Britain, Travelodge, has decided to remove Bibles from the hotel rooms to avoid upsetting non-Christians. Travelodge bases its decision on ‘diversity reasons’ and explains that the country has become increasingly multicultural.
Although no single guest has ever complaint about the Bibles in the hotel rooms, Travelodge claims they do not want to discriminate against any religion.
The collected Bibles should be stored behind reception for guests who can borrow them on request, however, in several cases there was no Bible even at the reception and it was suggested to the guests to use the hotel´s wi-fi and “google it”.
A Church of England spokesman commented: ‘It seems both tragic and bizarre that hotels would remove the word of God for the sake of ergonomic design, economic incentive or a spurious definition of the word “diversity”. ’
