Destruction of the Passion Cross in Krosno
In the Sanctuary of St John Paul II in Krosno, the Passion Cross and the figure of Jesus Christ hanging from it were desecrated on 19 December. The vandalism was particularly brutal, and the figure was broken into many fragments.
The damage is very serious and the faithful say that the figure will probably not be repaired. The cross with the Passion of Jesus Christ was 3.5 metres high.
Officers say they have arrested a man who may be connected to the case. The suspect, a 33-year-old man, is also believed to have smashed the church doors and a statue of Jesus Christ, which stands just outside the church entrance.
"What is the fault of the cross on which our Saviour Jesus Christ shed his most holy blood for us? We ask for prayers to atone for this blasphemy and that it be made available so that as many believers as possible can make reparation," wrote the representatives of the Warriors of Mary in Krosno.
