Baptist church vandalised with Antifa

Country: Hungary

Date of incident: February 28, 2025

On 28 February, the Baptist congregation in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, discovered that the facade of their church building had been vandalised with the slogan "God is dead". The graffiti also contained antifa symbols.

The pastor of the church expressed his sadness at the incident and said that the faith community was looking for ways to turn the incident into something good, possibly by turning the graffiti into a positive message.

Asked about the background to the incidnet, the foreign secretary of the Baptist Union of Hungary said that while antifa incidents were generally rare in Hungary, there had been a major attack in February 2023, "when German and other antifa members came to Budapest and randomly attacked and beat people on the street - because they thought from "what they looked like" that these people were on the political right."
