Anti-Christian Graffiti Written on Door of Lourdes Church
Police opened an investigation after anti-Catholic insults, including “Filthy race of Jesus Christ”, were discovered on the entrance of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Lourdes.
On the night of November 11, 2025, anti-Christian graffiti was discovered on the central entrance doors of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Lourdes, France. The inscriptions, written in white marker, included the phrases “À mort Jésus-Christ” (“Death to Jesus Christ”) and “Sale race de Jésus-Christ” (“Filthy race of Jesus Christ”). Municipal services removed the markings before the end of morning mass. Mayor Thierry Lavit condemned the act as “totally disrespectful of the place” and stated, “we are reaching the heights of baseness.” A slab in the church square was also soiled but cleaned by parishioners before the end of mass. Police opened an investigation, though no suspects were identified and the church square lacked direct video surveillance.
