Consecrated Host Stolen from Church, Raising Fears of Black Mass

The incident occurred on 15 August 2026 at Saint-Quintien Church in Lieusaint, where an unknown individual entered the church, smashed open the tabernacle and stole a lunette containing a consecrated host. The offence occurred on the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a day of particular religious significance for Catholics, and constitutes a sacrilegious theft and desecration, striking at the heart of the Catholic Eucharistic faith.
According to the report, the parish priest, Father Joaquim Quintallet, said the church was open to the public when the individual entered. Further, he stated: "It's almost certainly a theft for the purpose of a black mass," which is a satanic sacrilegious ritual mocking Catholic worship.
The mayor of Lieusaint announced that a complaint had been filed and that he would follow the investigation.
Following the desecration, Sunday Mass at Saint-Quintien was cancelled, and a notice from the priest stated: “A serious act has been committed; the tabernacle was profaned yesterday...There will be no Mass this Sunday...Let us pray in reparation.” The faithful were directed to a Mass in the neighbouring parish, while celebrations at Saint-Quintien were suspended pending a Mass of Reparation by the bishop.
