Vandals ransack and desecrate Sanctuary in Brusimpiano
On 17 August 2026, consecrated hosts were stolen from the tabernacle of the Sanctuary di Ardena in Brusimpiano after it was forced open during a break-in. The hosts were subsequently found scattered on the floor, while sacred furnishings and other objects were also damaged and stolen, constituting a sacrilegious theft and desecration.
On 17 August 2026 at the Sanctuary of Madonna di Ardena in Brusimpiano, perpetrators broke in through a broken rear window and forced open the tabernacle. A witness discovered shards of glass on the altar floor and the church was discovered to have been ransacked. The act of foremost concern was the removal of consecrated hosts from the tabernacle, which were found scattered on the floor.
Further, sacred furnishings and objects used for religious celebrations were also stolen. The offences constitute grave desecration, which targeted the heart of the Catholic Eucharistic faith.
The parish reported the incident to the police.
