Sixth Criminal Incursion into Churches in Indre-et-Loire in one month
The Saint-Pierre Church in Monts was broken into and ransacked on 25 August, a parish representative alerted the police, making it the sixth attack on churches in the Indre-et-Loire this month. Unknown persons broke down the door and reportedly moved items, but nothing was found stolen. This incident has been the latest in a slew of church attacks in the region, and has further elevated concerns about the security nof Christian places of worship for community members.
During the Mass of Reparation for the desecration in Joué-lès-Tours (OIDAC reported), Bishop Jordy announced a new attack; the sixth in the span of one month in the Indre-et-Loire region.
Unknown perpetrators broke into the Church of Saint-Pierre in Monts on 25 August, breaking down the door and moving around objects inside the church. A spokesperson from the gendarmerie stated that no theft had occured.
The incident at Saint-Pierre is the sixth since July 21 with repeated reports of desecrations (OIDAC, reported) and occurred only a few days after the Eucharistic desecration at Joué-lès-Tours on 21 August. This points to a concerning pattern in the disrespect towards Christian places of worship in the Indre-et-Loire region, with Christian communities feeling desolation at the distressing events.
