Priest appeals for help as crucifix is defaced

The parish priest, Don Daniel Romagnuolo, announced the defacement in a letter to the community: "As many have witnessed, the crucifix in our church, a precious sign of the Lord's presence among us and a point of reference for prayer for so many generations, has recently been defaced." According to the report, the incident "deeply touched" the community. "We felt not only bitterness for the material damage, but above all the pain that comes when what we cherish as part of our history, our faith and our community identity is struck," wrote Don Romagnuolo.
In an appeal to the devotion of the faithful, the parish priest asked for help from the community and expressed the desire to create and place a new crucifix in the church, asking support to build a "concrete sign of unity and spiritual rebirth."
