Man arrested after shouting Islamist slogan outside a Church
A 35-year old man was arrested following an incident at a church in Moselle where, armed with a knife, he entered the building and shouted "Allah Akbar." The man was sentenced to six months imprisonment with a suspended sentence on 11 September.
On 8 September, a 35-year-old native of Bosnia-Herzegovina was arrested after he entered the Moselle's main church armed with a knife and shouted "Allah Akbar." Reportedly, the man was searching for the parish priest of Saint-Rémi Church.
In a Facebook post, the mayor of Moselle commended the students who reported the man, and offered his support to "to our archpriest, to the priests of the parish as well as to the entire Catholic community, deeply affected by the event."
The exact motivations have not been determined, but reports suggest the man was facing difficulties in his personal life. According to the report, he was convicted for carrying a weapon without legitimate reason, as well as illegal use of narcotics, on 11 September.
