Church near Brussels closes due to slew of vandalism

The church council made the decision due to the incessant attacks on the historic building over the spring and summer of 2026. The measure is very shocking to the community, who relied on the church as an accessible and open place of worship.
The regular churchgoers at St. Anne's Church in Auderghem were informed that the parish will close temporarily. According to reports from 19 September, the church council made this decision for temporary closure following a series of repeated acts of vandalism that occurred this spring and early summer at the historic building.
A notice was placed at the entrance of the church which read: "Due to repeated acts of vandalism, the church is temporarily closed outside of Mass times." This decision came as a shock to the community, who knew the church as a palce that was always open and accessible to people wishing to enter.
