Death Threat Forced Evangelical Church in Kempten to Cancel Public Worship

Following a death threat on TikTok, the Tabernacle Church in Kempten moved its worship indoors, citing safety concerns and growing anti-Christian sentiment.
The Tabernacle Church in Kempten, Germany, canceled its planned public worship event at Hildegardplatz after one of its pastors received a death threat via TikTok. The church, which has operated in the city since 2022 and has around 120 members, opted to hold its service privately indoors. Local police launched an investigation into the threat, and church leaders expressed concern over increasing hostility toward Christian groups.
In a public Instagram statement, the church wrote: “We had to cancel our Jesus Party today in the market square because of death threats, but this morning we came together as a closed church and still worshiped and loved our Lord Jesus.” Co-founder Eddie Reger confirmed the decision was made to protect the congregation. The incident sparked broader discussions about the limits of religious criticism and the rise of targeted intimidation.
