Country: Germany

Date of incident: December 12, 2025

A holy water font at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Burladingen was deliberately filled with urine in an act of targeted desecration shocking parishioners and clergy. The parish priest called the act "a slap in the face of a believer."

In Burladingen, Zollernalbkreis, the Catholic parish of St. Fidelis Church reported that its holy water font had been deliberately filled with urine, an act described by police and church officials as a targeted desecration. The incident occurred during the Advent season, when parishioners gathered for services. Local authorities confirmed the contamination and opened an investigation into the circumstances and possible motives.

Judging by the smell, the urine must have come from an animal, possibly a pig or a cow, accordig to the parish priest. Parish members expressed dismay, with one stating, “We are shocked that someone would desecrate a sacred place in this way,” while the parish priest emphasised that the act was a "desecration of the sacred," which is like "a slap in the face of a believer." The attack was classified as an act of vandalism against a Christian symbol, carried out by unknown perpetrators, and was addressed through police inquiry and church response.

This is not the first time the St. Fidelis church was targeted. A few months ago, the Easter candle was painted and worn underwear was hung on the baptismal font, the parish priest recounted.
