Consecrated Hosts Stolen from a Spanish Church

Country: Spain

Date of incident: December 28, 2025

The tabernacle of a church in Valladolid was forced and consecrated Hosts were stolen. This was the second such incident in the diocese this year, and Archbishop Luis Argüello has announced a public act of reparation.

On December 28, 2025, the tabernacle of the parish church of Santa María del Monasterio de La Santa Espina in Valladolid, Spain, was forcibly opened and desecrated, with consecrated Hosts stolen from within.

The Archdiocese of Valladolid confirmed the incident in an official communiqué, describing it as “a grave offense to the Lord and to the Catholic Church,” given the belief in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

This marked the second reported tabernacle desecration in the diocese that year. In response, Archbishop Luis Argüello announced a public act of reparation to be held on January 3 at 6:00 p.m. in the affected church. He urged the faithful “to pray in reparation for this sacrilegious act” and to safeguard the Eucharist with renewed vigilance. The incident was reported to civil authorities.
