Christians Attacked and Insulted while protecting a St.John Paul II Monument

On the 27th October 2020, unidentified pro-abortion protesters attacked, with telescopic batons, people defending the monument of St. John Paul II in Wołomin from being devastated during the local Women’s Strike. As a result of the perpetrators’ actions, one person was injured and had to be taken to the hospital.
On the evening of October 27, in the center of Wolomin, pro-abortion groups were protesting against the decision of the Constitutional Tribunal on eugenic abortion. The protesters gathered on Maja Square, the place where the statue of the Polish Pope St. John Paul II stands, chanting and displaying anti-christian and anti-government slogans. Representatives of different Catholic circles cordoned the monument in an attempt to prevent its destruction by the protesters, bearing in mind the many cases of profanation of churches, places of worship, and monuments in the previous days, throughout the Polish territory.
One of the participants protecting the monument told tvp.info that there was a real apprehension that the protests could damage or even destroy the monument, thus the group decided to stand around it while praying the rosary. The individual further claimed that the protesters were trying to reach the monument, shouting insults and threats, but the group stood firmly and blocked the access to the statue.
That was until a group of five people approached them with telescopic batons shouting "defenders of the cross!" and brutally attacked the group. The man who spoke with tvp.info was the one who got hurt the most, with injuries on the wrist, the skull, and other deep skin injuries.
After the attack, he was taken to the hospital but on the next day, October 28, the man reported the event to the police He did not have much to go on, since the attackers were dressed in black and wore masks. However, he suspects that the perpetrators were part of the protest.
