Law Criminalizes Elements of Christianity

Country: Sweden

Date of incident: December 31, 2002

New law prohibits criticism of homosexuality and makes biblical applications to today a criminal offence.

Sweden passed a law by an overwhelming majority penalizing “critical comments” about homosexuality or homosexuals with up to 4 years imprisonment. This new law also applies when one’s viewpoint is supported by a quote of the bible, such as passages like Romans 1:26, I Corinthians 6:9-11 and others. It is however legal to quote the bible standing on its own, but it must be interpreted as something applicable to our modern day. Swedish homosexual activists pledged to monitor church sermons. Pastors become targets of the judiciary, freedom of religion as well as freedom of expression are impeded.
