The Christian pilgrims’ hostel Benite-Fontaine in La Roche-sur-Foron in France, a major pilgrimage destination in the area which is frequently visited mostly by couples who are unable to have children, was burglarized during the night from 16th to 17th August 2014.
Bottles of communion wine were drunk and the consecrated hosts were stolen from the tabernacle. Valuable non-religious subjects in the pilgrim´s house (like music instruments and chalices) were neither stolen nor touched. This suggests that the act would be sacrilegious in nature.
