Priest Hospitalized After Attack During Silent Pro-Family Manifestation in Rovereto
On Sunday, 5th of October, silent demonstrations against “gay marriage” took place throughout Italy under the name “standing sentinels” (“Sentinelle in Piedi”). During the gathering in Rovereto a group of anarchists demanded that the Sentinels leave and started to attack them. Two people, a priest and a young woman, had to been taken to hospital.
The “Sentinelle in Piedi” took place in Bologna, Turin, Genoa, Aosta, and Rovereto. Although the gatherings were officially permitted, a group identified as anarchists arrived to the gathering in Rovereto and demanded that the Sentinels leave. They destroyed the Sentinel´s publicity materials, screamed threats and threw eggs on the demonstration participants and even attacked them by kicking and pushing. Two participants, a priest, Fr. Matteo Graziola and a young woman, were attacked so seriously that they needed to be hospitalized.
