Baker Found Guilty After Refusing to Bake Cake Supporting Same-Sex Marriage
A bakery in Northern Ireland was found guilty of "direct discrimination" after its Christian owner declined to provide a decorated cake with the words 'support gay marriage’. The owner said he could not fulfill the order because it conflicts with his Christian beliefs about marriage. The order, placed by gay rights activist Gareth Lee, was originally accepted by employees but Ashers Bakery later decided it was against its beliefs. The bakery's owner, Daniel McArthur, said he should not have to promote a cause he does not believe in and refused to pay a settlement. Read our report about the law suit here.
