Graves Vandalized in Mazères

Country: France

Date of incident: November 1, 2015

On All Saints Day, a solemnity celebrated by Catholics and some Protestants, visitors to the Mazères cemetery discovered five graves, including a central cross, sprayed with orange paint with references to "Satanists", among others.

Families of the deceased were outraged, and an investigation to determine the perpetrators has been opened. Municipal officials had to clean the central cross on Sunday, so that it would be presentable for a religious ceremony.
