"Piss Christ" and Sexually Provocative Virgin Mary to be Displayed in Exhibition Sponsored by Italian Government
The Lucca Photolux photo exhibition, with the theme "Sacred and Profane", and sponsored by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and Tourism will run from November 21 to December 13.
Among other photographs, the famous "Piss Christ", a photograph of a crucifix submerged in a jar of urine. Another piece is a Virgin Mary portrayed with in a sexually provocative manner.
These images are disrespectful and insulting to the religious feelings of Christians and the exhibition is sponsored by the government Ministry.
