Separate Housing for Christian Refugees in Stuttgart Approved

Country: Germany

Date of incident: February 10, 2016

Due to frequent reports of abuse, harassment, and assaults against Christian refugees at the hands of their Muslim co-habitatants, the City of Stuttgart has approved new, separate, accommodations.

Although the city initially opposed separating asylum-seekers on religious or ethic lines, it finally agreed to provide new accommodation for Christians in April 2016, after a public outcry, lobbying by Evangelischer Arbeitskreis (a Protestant working group, and an on-line petition signed by nearly 17,000 people.  According to Die Welt, Stefan Walter from the Evangelischer Arbeitskreis said, "The Christian refugees come from countries where the persecution of Christians is the greatest. Christian refugees should not be used for an integration experiment."  Source: Die Welt
