Paint Bomb Attack at Evangelical Academy in Gießen

Country: Germany

Date of incident: March 7, 2016

In the night between March 7-8, the Freien Theologischen Hochschule (FTH) building in Gießen was hit with paint bombs. An anonymous claim of responsibility was published on a left-wing internet platform

Suggesting that the attack was timed to coincide with International Women's Day, the writing on the far-left site under the headline "For women*-fight-day sexist structures tagged" refers to the attack to the school as a "visit". It refers to the FTH's Institute for Ethics and Values as conveying "a backward, deeply (hetero)sexist image of gender", and that the FTH is part of a network "which spreads a heteronormative worldview". The posting specifically mentions the evangelical Brunnen Verlag based in Gießen and the German Institute for Youth and Society of the ecumenical community "Reichenberg Fellowship" (OJC/Reichelsheim im Odenwald) .
