Christian Refugees Face Discrimination in Austria

Country: Austria

Date of incident: May 13, 2016

According to the NGO "Christian Solidarity International" (CSI), Christian refugees are being repeatedly discriminated against in Austrian refugee centers.

In a press conference on May 12, 2016, CSI General Secretary, Elmar Kuhn, said CSI had received numerous reports about Christian refugees who were harassed, assaulted, assaulted, or threatened with death by Muslim refugees in accommodations in Austria, for example, in Traiskirchen. He went on to say that the State seemed unable and unwilling to put an end to this behavior. Christian refugees are threatened and harassed by Muslim refugees in the course of fleeing on the refugee route and this behavior continues in refugee centers. He noted that even some Muslim members of the supervisory staff participate in the harassment of Christians. The threat is worst for converts as conversion from Islam to another religion is a crime in some Islamic countries. Source: kath.net
