Arson in Private Chapel in Omessa

Country: France

Date of incident: February 6, 2017

The owner of the chapel of Santa Rita, which he renovated, discovered the door had been forced open, cards and a rosary were left on the altar and set on fire. Luckily, the fire did not spread to the rest of the chapel.

The owner of the chapel, Ange-Marie Franceschini, said:
"There is not an enormous amount of damage, but it is nevertheless damage that is small and big at the same time (...) It is an attack on Christianity or perhaps against me since the chapel is private."
Franceschini filed a complaint and the gendarmerie brigade of Corte opened an investigation. Source: France 3
