Virgin and Child Mosaic Vandalized in Málaga
The ceramic image of the Virgen del Carmen de Huelin located on the seafront of a popular neighborhood of Málaga was damaged by vandals who broke the tiles composing the faces of the Virgin Mary and Jesus.
La Agrupación de Congregaciones, Hermandades y Cofradías de Gloria de Málaga issued a statement condemning this vandalism and showing its support to the Brotherhood of Carmen del Huelin. It made "a public appeal for the respect and tolerance not only of religious symbols, but also the artistic heritage of the city, in the hope that events like this will never happen again."
