Intentional Fires in Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais Church in Langon
A passerby saw flames coming from the church and rushed in to extinguish the fire. Firefighters arrived quickly and were able to prevent the fire from causing extensive damage. Fires had been set in two different places: one at the candlesticks where the alter of the Virgin is situated, and the other at the entrance where leaflets and informational flyers are displayed.
"I was going to close the church," said Father Patrick Fauries, head of the parish "when a gentleman came to me and said, 'They set fire to your church!'"
Father Patrick filed a complaint and an investigation was opened. The priest condemned the degrading act and expressed his concerns about the recurring problems in the church of of Langon as well of Toulenne.
