Relic Stolen from Saint-Étienne de Toul

Country: France

Date of incident: April 5, 2018

On April 5th, a student who works as a summer guide of the Toul Cathedral, Saint-Étienne, discovered that pieces of the relic belonging to the first bishop of Toul, St. Gerard, was missing. The relic is about twenty centimeters long and was pulled out from its holster.

In the same religiuos building there are reliquaries containing the skulls of Saint Mansuy (the first bishop of Toul), Saint Aprone (the sister of Saint Epvre) and Saint Gerard, but luckily, they were untouched.

The mayor of the city, Aldde Harmand had noticed that the door between the cloister and the cathedral was opened and signaled the parish priest to boost and surveil the security of high value items. However, his fears were verified before provisions were apparently made.

Complaint was filed at the police station in Toul.
