When a 53-year-old Austrian man became aggressive and started wielding a knife in the Berlin Cathedral, police were called to intervene. After the cathedral was cleared, two police officers opened fire against the man in the area of the altar. Both the man and one police officer were wounded and brought to hospital.
The man appeared to have been "confused." The police warned against speculation and said that there was no indication of a terrorist motive in the incident.
