Explosion at Banquet Hall of Syrian Orthodox Church in Södertälje
Police completed a forensic investigation of an explosion in an events hall owned by the St. Afrem Syrian Orthodox Church. The hall, rented from the church for events such as parties and wedding receptions, was empty at the time of the explosion. Police said the explosion was the result of a homemade incendiary device, but have not identified a perpetrator.
A spokesperson for St. Afrem's said it is mostly Syrians who rent the premises and that the explosion came as a surprise, as the church had not previously been threatened.
