Medical Doctor Reprimanded for Talking about Christianity to a Patient Despite Consent
Richard Scott, a MD with a 28-year spotless work record, has been given a disciplinary call for sharing his faith with a patient.
Dr. Scott, after providing standard clinic advise, asked the 24-year-old patient if he could talk about the case from a religious perspective and share his beliefs. The patient consented. Two months later, the mother of the patient complained and accused the doctor of “harassment” at the General Medical Council (GMC) which in turn reprimanded Dr Scott for talking about his faith to a patient. Dr Scott will take steps against the GMC decision as he insists no guidelines were breached.
