Surveillance System Installed in Church due to Vandalism

Country: United Kingdom

Date of incident: February 23, 2020

Due to repeated vandalism, drug-dealing, and abuse of volunteers in the Holy Trinity Church in Exmouth, a surveillance system with seven cameras will be installed as a "necessary security measure."

The East Devon District Council approved the church's application. "Petty vandalism, abusive treatment of volunteers in the church coffee bar, and candles being lit had resulted in the premises having to be kept locked," said the church council treasurer. One of the town representatives also noted “There have been some quite nasty incidents there, so it is necessary from a security point of view.”
