Arson Attack on Göppingen Church
An unknown arsonist set fire to the side portal of the Oberhofen church in Göppingen on the 7th of March. Pastor Hannes Gaiser said that the door now needs to be secured and that there was some smoke damage inside the church. The extent of the property damage could not be calculated yet as the organ and electrics had not been checked.
That morning, the pastor noticed some small damage that had occurred in an attempt by someone to enter the church. It caused him little concern since it was unsuccessful. An unknown intruder had attempted to break open several doors of the church but was unsuccessful. The police assume the acts to be related and were investigating the incident. A witness allegedly saw a man about 1.85 meters tall around the church.
