A couple who specialised in stealing from churches convicted

A couple who specialised in stealing from churches has now been caught and convicted. In 2014 the couple had stolen various religious objects in broad daylight from dozens of churches in the west of France. Once stolen these sacred items were sent by mail to England before being sold.

The couple would enter the churches in broad daylight taking more than 100 items in the process. Including, numerous chalices, ciboriums or patens, liturgical objects used by priests to consecrate wine or hosts at the time of communion. For this series of robberies the one perpatrator has been given a 12 month suspended sentence and a 10,000 euro fine. His partner will also have to pay a fine of 10,000 euros and the receiver of the objects stolen an 8,000 euro fine.
