LGBT group vandalises Greek Orthodox Church

Country: Greece

Date of incident: February 4, 2024

The Church of St. Achillius of Larissa was vandalised on the eve of the reading of the synodal circular of the Orthodox Church of Greece on the bill to legalize gay marriage. Unknown people wrote slogans on the ground and walls directed against the Orthodox faith and Metropolitan Jerome personally.

One of the inscriptions says that "Greece is dying" and people live "in the hell of family, religion and priests." Elsewhere the graffiti read: “No to violence, yes to lesbianism.” In front of the main entrance, vandals wrote vulgarities about Metropolitan Larisa, and on the steps about the Virgin Mary.
