Suspected Arson at St Matthews Church
Early on Friday morning, March 1, St Matthews Church in Berlin was the scene of several fires. The police suspect arson.
Burning wooden slats were discovered at the main entrance door of the church in Berlin-Schöneberg at around 2.40 am by a passer-by. The witness removed the slats from the door, resulting in only minor damage. Shortly after, another witness reported burning wooden slats on a side door of the church.
Both fires were quickly extinguished, but the door has sustained significant damage. As per the police investigation, it is suspected to be a case of attempted arson.
