Vandalism and Desecration of Church of Santa Maria in Albis
On Saturday night, April 20, individuals broke into the church of Sancta Maria in Albis, located in the heart of the village of Breil-sur-Roya.
"They climbed over the tabernacle, trampled on the altar and threw the Paschal candle to the ground. Worse still, they lit the old and unstable candles at the top of the tabernacle and left them burning all night, risking setting fire to the wooden altar and the entire building. I strongly condemn these irresponsible acts, which we have reported to the Gendarmerie," Sébastien Olharan, the mayor of Breil-sur-Roya, wrote in his Facebook post.
