Jesus figure stolen from nativity scene
On December 30, the statue of the child Jesus was stolen from the nativity scene on Plaza dela Hispanidad in Cuenca. In a statement, the Consistory lamented that once again this year these acts of vandalism have targeted a heritage "that belongs to everyone".
In addition to the Jesus figure, the mule has also been stolen.
The nativity scene has been installed every year for six decades in the centre of Cuenca's capital, in the Plaza de la Hispanidad, and there have been numerous occasions in previous years when the Baby Jesus has been taken away (see, for example: OIDAC report from 2021).
