Counterdemonstrations Disturbed Silent pro Life Vigil in Berlin
People with pro life convictions from all over Germany met on September 20th for a manifestation in Berlin. Their silent manifestation was interrupted by about 50 demonstrators throwing confetti unto them and chanting slogans such as: “If Mary had had an abortion, we would have been spared you guys!”, and “Communism instead of Jesus Christ”. During a religious service, two women denuded themselves and showed on the upper parts of their bodies a reversed cross.
On the 20th of September, people with pro life convictions from all over Germany carried 1000 Crosses through the city of Berlin as a silent protest reminding of the number of unborn babies aborted each day. After a short manifestation in front of the red town-hall, the pro-lifers marched from Alexanderplatz to Bebelplatz. The event, which has been organised by the Federal Association of the right of life, ended with an ecumenical service in St. Hedwig’s Cathedral. The pro choice NGO Pro Familia called for a “loud and manifold counteraction” and gathered around 50 people for a counterdemonstration chanting pro-abortion slogans. Some of the anti-life demonstrators tried to provoke the participants of the silent protest throwing confetti into the crowd and chanted slogans such as: “If Mary had had an abortion, we would have been spared you guys!”, and “You are so embarrassing”, and “Communism instead of Jesus Christ”. Some of the protesters tried to break into the peaceful pro life manifestation whose members widely ignored the provocations. During the religious service, two women denuded themselves and showed on the upper parts of their bodies a reversed cross. Police marched them off.
