Repeated Arson Attack on St. Benedikt church in Eisenharz
On July 13, fire was set to the church of St. Benedikt in the Allgäu community of Argenbühl-Eisenharz (Ravensburg district). This is already the second arson attack on the church this year. When the fire brigade arrived three pews were burning brightly, but the fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly. However, according to initial estimates by the Catholic parish, severe damage was caused. The church is completely covered in soot.
Parish priest Rupert Willburger said he is completely shocked that someone would do something like that. It was a terrible experience. "A disaster," said Willburger also alluding the effects of the fire. The church will remain closed for months, as it has to be cleaned from the scratch.
The community is shocked as this is already the second arson attack on the church this year (OIDAC reported). The parallels between the two arsons in St. Benedict's Church are striking: Both times it was a Tuesday, both times it was about the same time, namely around 5 p.m. The police are investigating a potential link.
