Church in Bordeaux Vandalised Once Again
As reported on December 3, the Saint-Éloi church in Bordeaux suffered significant damage after a burglary and vandalism estimated at 10,000 euros, with a safe broken and stained glass windows behind the high altar damaged. In June, the church was tagged during a feminist march in the Gironde.
The amount stolen is estimated at around 2,000 euros, mostly from the collection box. According to the parish priest, Father Grégory Lutz-Wiest, the thieves systematically took everything they could. This incident is part of a series of attacks and desecrations of Catholic places of worship in France. "It is getting worse and worse," the priest worries.
This church was also vandalised in June during a left-wing demonstration. The perpetrators threw down plates and cutlery kept for the winter soup kitchen and spray-painted 'Death to Nationalists' on the church walls.
