Installation resembling a ritual altar was discovered on soldiers' graves at War Cemetery No. 91 in Gorlice, prompting outrage among locals and a police investigation into possible desecration and religious offense.

At the historic War Cemetery No. 91 in Gorlice, Poland, residents were disturbed to find bizarre objects—including lamps, shells, stones, medicine containers, and cryptic notes—arranged on tombstones and the central cross, resembling a ritualistic altar.

The incident, perceived by many as a desecration, sparked speculation about cult activity, black magic, or mental illness, and led to a police investigation under Article 196 of the Penal Code for offending religious sentiments. Locals have called for surveillance measures to protect the cemetery, which holds the remains of over 1,400 soldiers from World War I and II, making it a deeply symbolic site of remembrance.
