Catholic Hermitage Vandalised
The hermitage of Santa Isabel in Canet lo Roig was subjected to an act of vandalism, during which its entrance was forcibly damaged, and a statue of St. Isabel was broken. The Mayor condemned the act, underlining the impact on the local community.
On the evening of September 5, 2025, the hermitage of Santa Isabel in Canet lo Roig was vandalized by unknown individuals who forcibly broke down its entrance and destroyed a statue of Saint Isabel.
Mayor María Ángeles Pallarés condemned the act, stating, “She [Santa Isabel] is part of our traditions and the collective feeling; with this action, the neighbors have felt attacked in their beliefs and feelings.” She further attributed the incident to reduced law enforcement presence in the area and called for increased security resources to address ongoing public safety concerns.
