Consecrated Host Theft
Intruders broke into the Sant Oleguer parish church, opened the tabernacle, and stole consecrated hosts in a targeted act of sacrilege.
On June 26, 2024, unidentified individuals entered the Sant Oleguer Bisbe parish church in central Barcelona and committed an act of profanation by opening the tabernacle and stealing consecrated hosts. No other material damage was reported.
The Archdiocese of Barcelona confirmed that the Mossos d’Esquadra and local police were investigating the incident. The parish, known for its active Christian community and open-door policy, organised a vigil of reparation the following day to respond to the act of desecration.
