French Church Desecrated with Excrement
Police launched an investigation after excrement and soiled clothing were discovered inside a church in Châtellerault, part of a broader pattern affecting local Christian sites.
On October 26, 2025, parish officials discovered excrement and soiled clothing inside the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church on Boulevard Blossac in Châtellerault, France, prompting police to open an investigation into the incident. According to a police source, the defilement included “the presence of soiled clothes inside the church, as well as excrement at the foot of a pillar.”
During mass that day, the parish priest informed attendees of similar acts affecting two other churches in the city, including Saint-Jacques in the historic center. These incidents formed part of a broader pattern reported over several months, involving thefts, intrusions, minor fires, and repeated defilements.
