Bomb Threat Targets Catholic Church During Family Service

Police sealed off the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Aichach after a bomb threat disrupted a mass attended by hundreds.

On Sunday, November 16, 2025, police in Aichbach received a bomb threat by phone at approximately 11 a.m. against the Catholic parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, where a family service with about 300 worshippers was underway. Six patrol cars and an explosives dog were deployed to search the church and surrounding area, and access was sealed off until the operation concluded. No suspicious objects were found, and authorities ruled out an immediate danger, confirming that the threat was unrelated to the service. A worshipper leaving the church told Donaukurier, “We were shocked to hear about a bomb threat, but the police reassured us quickly.” Officials stated that the church was released after two and a half hours, and investigations into the background of the incident were opened.
