Neo-Fascist Graffiti on Church Condemned as “National and Religious Blasphemy”

Country: United Kingdom

Date of incident: November 15, 2025

Swastika and Russian “Z” symbols were graffitied on Our Lady of Lourdes church in Swansea, prompting police investigation and condemnation from civic and religious leaders.

Neo-fascist graffiti, including a swastika and Russian “Z” symbol, was found on the walls of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Townhill, Swansea, during the night of November 15. Former Swansea West MP Geraint Davies described the act as “national and religious blasphemy,” drawing parallels with the Nazi bombing of Swansea in 1941, when “the Nazis killed 230 people, injured almost 400 and left Swansea centre in ruins.”

Archbishop Mark O’Toole of Cardiff-Menevia stated, “I was very saddened to hear of the racist graffiti on one of our churches over the weekend,” adding that the community was grateful it was quickly removed. Local resident Scott Cameron-Baker commented, “My grandparents loved Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church… They would both be turning in their graves at this.” South Wales Police confirmed they were called at 10:30am on November 16 and that investigations into the incident were ongoing.
