Church Nativity Figures Vandalised
Acts of vandalism targeted Christmas decorations at Villar de Olalla, damaging religious symbols and prompting a municipal appeal for information.
On December 3, 2025, the Ayuntamiento of Villar de Olalla in Cuenca reported vandalism against Christmas decorations installed near the local church, where figures of the infant Jesus and a deer were damaged. The installation had been provided by the company Cárnicas Frivall, which donated the decorations annually.
In a statement, the municipality said, “This nativity is not just an ornament; it is a symbol of Christmas, an element that unites us as a community.” Officials emphasised that the damage represented “a lack of respect toward the effort, collaboration, and spirit of brotherhood that should prevail, especially during these dates.” The Ayuntamiento urged residents to protect public property and called for any information that could help identify those responsible.
